Fat Friday

27th Aug 2010

Comprising Richard Ashman vocals and percussion Chris Newman on guitar/vocals and Art Toper on keys, all glued together with the rhythm section skills of bassist Charlie Burgoyne and drummer Ian Croft, Fat Friday are already gaining a great deal of much deserved attention. Fat Friday began its journey to fruition during late 2006, working support slots and honing the bands skills to become the funk tour-de-force that the band now is. Mixing elements of Jazz, World and Old School R'n'B, the Friday's take the groove and dig deeply into it. This music is not for standing around your handbag, but for jumping head first into the soup and letting it all out! Fat Friday take the wealth of experience that these players own, draw extensively from record collections that the BBC would be proud to own and completely mess with it all, dropping some classic tunes that bear only a passing resemblance to the original masters. They also offer original material that amply shows the band's personal and unique influences. If you want your grooves funk'd up, your jazz swung out and your World beats messed with, then the Friday's are going to set your pants on fire.
